Three cups have fallen over and water is spilling out. The cat looks at them with a sad expression on his face. The water will never return to its original state. He knows that, but he can’t take his eyes off it. The 5 of CUPS card depicts how we become obsessed with what has passed.
But there are still two “unfallen cups” behind. The cat is not yet aware of their existence. Letting go of attachment to the past may help us see what we have instead of what we don’t have.
