Major Arcana 8: STRENGTH

Miko, a white cat, holds percussion instruments “sasara” in her hand and claps the beat. When she beats the rhythm, the lioness starts to dance. So she is protected by the power of God and the power of love, Perhaps it is not strength of arms or military might that quells the rampaging lioness, but the “power of belief, spirituality, and courage” that love brings.

The card tells us that you have the “strength of love” to overcome difficulties.

The motif of this painting is the “Ishihara no Sasara Shishi-mai (lion dance),” a cultural asset designated by Saitama Prefecture and handed down in the Ishihara-cho district of Kawagoe City, Saitama Prefecture. The beautiful lions and the rhythm of the beat by children make for a lovely dance.
